To steal a line from the movie Days of Thunder, “We have got ourselves a sponsor.”
Officials from Winchester Speedway officially announced today that the facility’s traditional event on Sunday, October 11 will now be referred to as the Winchester 400 presented by JEGS.
Tickets are available at the track’s website, winchesterspeedway.com.
“We’re real excited to be a part of the Winchester 400 this year. Bob (Dillner, track promoter) and I had talked some time ago about if JEGS wanted to be a part of one of the biggest circle track races in the country and we said, ‘Of course,” commented John Coughlin, President of JEGS, while being interviewed on Speed51’s The Bullring.
“We want to be a part of all races, especially the big ones. We’re all racers here at JEGS. We know what it’s like when you want something or need something. We treat every customer like it’s one of us when we want to go racing. We want to get it to them so they can go racing, go to the car show or go wherever they want to go with their project.”
The 49th Winchester 400 weekend, October 9 – 11 at Winchester Speedway in Indiana will feature four divisions from the Champion Racing Association, as well as the Midwest Modifieds Series, the Vores Compact Touring Series and the Thunder Roadsters. The main event is Sunday’s Winchester 400 presented by JEGS with some of the best Super Late Model drivers (ARCA/CRA Super Series) in the country expected to compete.
“Winchester is an iconic racetrack and with Bob and his team (at the track) taking control and working with Charlie (Shaw, Winchester Speedway owner), we just think it’s going to be a ten-strike and we want to be a part of that. We’re very excited about that.”
It’s a sentiment that Winchester Speedway Promoter Bob Dillner shares with Coughlin. With the race now less than a month away, the excitement continues to build with JEGS coming on board for the event.
“It helps the branding of the Winchester 400, having JEGS on board makes it even bigger that what it traditionally is, one of the crown jewel events in Super Late Model racing,” stated Dillner. “We also have Modifieds, Street Stocks, the Vore’s Compacts and Late Model Sportsman and even Thunder Roadsters there, as well as the Pro Late Models that JEGS supports through CRA.
“When you get a company like JEGS involved, it just makes everything seem more professional. We’ll have JEGS plastered all over that place. The Coughlin supports racing, not just Winchester, but all over the place, it goes hand-in-hand with their business model to make a strong bond with the racing community.”
The 49th Running of the Winchester 400 Presented by JEGS is scheduled for three action-packed days of racing at the “Fastest Half Mile” on October 9-11. A limited number of tickets are available at winchesterspeedway.com.
