For the second time in three nights, Cole Anderson visited victory lane at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) Monday night. Anderson doubled up by winning the 35-lap Pro Late Model feature after a victory on Saturday night.
Anderson won the Red Eye 100 and the Orange Blossom 100 at New Smyrna in 2016, before nearly falling out of the public eye one year ago. With two wins to his credit already during the 52nd Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing, he believes he may once again be hitting his stride.
“It feels good; we had so much success here early on,” Anderson told Speed51.com. “We struggled the past year, but to come back like this, two wins back to back, it really means a lot and it says a lot about this team.”
Anderson took the lead from Todd Stone, who led the first 19 laps, on a restart with 16 laps to go.
“We started sixth, got hung up a little bit by some of the front starting cars, and then got that yellow and kind of beat Todd down in turn one and got a good run off turn two and cleared him,” Anderson said of the winning pass.”
With three Pro Late Model races now on the books during the 52nd Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing, Anderson now owns two victories. Coupled with his podium finish on opening night, Anderson now leads the Pro Late Model points with four races remaining.
Having the type of success he’s had early on will help to set the tone for Anderson for the remainder of Florida Speedweeks.
“It feels good to get two (wins) in a row here at Speedweeks,” he stated.
Anderson is already preparing for the rest of the week at New Smyrna Speedway, specifically the longer-distance races at the end of the week.
“I feel like heading into the 50 lapper, 100 lapper, I think our car is going to be pretty good. It seems to get better as it goes on, so we’ll see how it plays out.”

Pro Late Models will be back in action on Wednesday, February 14 for another 35-lap feature race.
