Hossfeld took the lead from Brian Defebo of Berwick, Pennsylvania on lap 3 and fended off several comers on multiple restarts eventually holding off current series point leader, Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, N.Y., for the win.

“We’ve been fast this year, but we just haven’t been able to put it all together and get to victory lane, today we did,” explained Hossfeld following victory lane ceremonies. “Everyone has stepped it up and it’s very competitive. Today everything played into this win. We had a great car and I have a great team, they give me an awesome car to drive, it was fun today. Things fell into place today, we are going to enjoy this and then get ready for the next one.”

Hossfeld moved to second in the championship standings behind Emerling with his performance at Chemung.

“We’re going for the championship so you have to make the most of every opportunity. We gained some today and we definitely needed the momentum.”

Hossfeld and Emerling were followed to the line by Mike Leaty, T.J. Potrzebowski and Daryl Lewis, Jr., who rouned out the top five.

Hossfeld posted the fastest time in the Timed Hot Lap session to establish the heat race line up with a time of 14.623 (92.320 mph) for the second consecutive week.

The next event for the Race of Champions is Friday, June 3 at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y.

The Race of Champions is a sanctioning body presenting Modified and Stock Car racing on asphalt and dirt surfaces throughout the Northeast, with events in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The 66th annual Race of Champions weekend will take place in 2016 and is the second longest consecutive auto-racing event in North America, second only to the Indianapolis 500.
