Casey Roderick record at Montgomery Motor Speedway (AL) has been as dominant as any other driver in the country at one race track this year. If there’s a Pro Late Model race there, he’s winning it. That looked like it was going to be the case once again on Saturday night as Roderick was showing the way late. But when it was all said and done, Bobby Knox, Jr. was the man standing in victory lane.
On a restart with about 15 laps to go Roderick was leading over Justin South and Knox. Roderick suffered a flat tire, which affected his car’s handling.
“He pushed up coming out of turn four,” Knox explained to Speed51.com powered by JEGS. “I made it three wide and we took the lead then led the last bit to win the race.”
After he took the lead it was all Knox to the checkered flag. Knox explained to 51 on Monday why this win, his first of the year, meant so much to him.
“We’ve been racing with Justin and Casey all year long,” said Knox. “It was really good to beat them at Montgomery because Casey has been really dominant this year.”
Thanks to his race win, Knox closed the gap on Roderick for the Show Me the Money Series points lead. That has Knox even more excited and eager to get back to Montgomery on July 16.
“It’s really close now,” he said. “We’ve just got to keep getting better. We’ve got a good race car. It’s been really good in the races. Our qualifying has been struggling, so we’ll go down there and test some day to see what we’ve really got.”
The Show Me the Money Series is the track championship for the Pro Late Models at Alabama’s Montgomery Motor Speedway. The division’s next race is on July 16 and is 100 laps.
