Candia NH’s PJ Stergios, saying that his car was absolutely perfect, was able to pull away from the field for the win in Saturday night’s 25 lap feature. Richie Morrocco and Dylan Duhaime put on an awesome driving display as they battled for second place. Morrocco held on for most of the race, but Duhaime finally got even with a few laps to go. They then raced side by side inches apart for 3 laps until Duhaime finally pulled ahead. Meanwhile Kevin (K Man) Hutchens, Ben Mikitarian, and Jim Cataldo waged a three car fight for fourth, fifth, and sixth. John Townsend and DJ Moniz had their own duel for seventh, with Townsend winning out. Joey Fraulino Jr, in his first midget race, had some fuel issues, but was excited after the race. The former quarter midget star and SK modified driver has a bright future with the Wicked Cool Midgets.
The young guns come from karts, legends cars, and quarter midgets. Many of them have been racing since they were six years old, and are now seasoned veterans, even though still in their teens. Mix them in with a few older drivers who came from modifieds, karts, and dirt mini sprints, and you have a highly competitive field of drivers. The fans were treated to clean, open wheel racing, and you could tell from their reaction that they appreciated it.
The Wicked Cool Midgets will be at Hudson Speedway on Sunday, June 28 at the historic 1/5 mile track. This will be first visit at Hudson for these drivers and they continue to win over fans with their driving skills and exciting brand of racing.
