A Look at What’s Planned for 2018 New Smyrna World Series

In just a few short days the calendar will turn from 2017 to 2018 and in just over a month pavement racers from all over the continent will converge on New Smyrna Speedway (FL) for nine days of racing during the 52nd Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.

 

As always, the schedule for the World Series at New Smyrna is jam-packed with some of the best short track racing action to be found anywhere. The best cars driven by the best drivers will be in action as everybody tries to shake off the cold to get ready for another season of racing.

 

This year’s World Series will begin on Friday, February 9 with four divisions in action. Headlining the first night of racing will be the Super Late Models. The Supers will be joined by the Pro Late Models, IMCA-type Modifieds and the Sportsman cars.

 

300x250 New Smyrna World Series 2018The second day of racing, Saturday, February 10, will feature five divisions of racing and a cameo from the pavement Sprint Cars of the Southern Sprint Car Shootout Series. Joining the Sprint Cars will be the Super and Pro Late Models, Sportsman and IMCA-type Modifieds.

 

Sunday, February 11 will be the third day of racing at New Smyrna Speedway, and on this day the Stock Cars will invade. The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will kick off its season and will be joined by the ICMA-type Modifieds.

 

On Monday, February 12, the North will invade the South as the Tour-type Modifieds come into town for their first feature of the week. The Tour-type Modifieds will headline the night with a 50-lap feature. They will be joined on the schedule by the Super and Pro Late Models.

 

Tuesday, February 13 will be the big night for the ICMA-type Modifieds as they will go to battle for 75 laps. The Super Late Models will also go at it for 50 laps and the Tour-type Modifieds will be back for their second night of racing.

 

Wednesday, February 14 is a big night for the Tour-type Modifieds. The ground-pounders of the north will headline the night with the running of the John Blewett III Memorial 76. The Super Late Models, Pro Late Models and IMCA-type Modifieds will also be on the schedule.

 

Thursday, February 15 will see both Modified divisions and both Late Model divisions in action once again.

 

The Tour-type Modifieds will conclude their five nights of racing with the Richie Evans Memorial 100 on Friday, February 16. The Pro Late Models will also run their longest race of the week on this night as they go for 100 laps, and the Sportsman cars are back once again.

 

The 2018 World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing will conclude on Saturday, February 17 with four divisions in action. The Super Late Models will headline the night with their 100-lap feature. The Pro Late Models, IMCA-type Modifieds and Sportsman cars will all be in action to close out the week.

 

The Super Late Models will race during Speedweeks a total of seven times with two off nights built into the schedule. The Pro Late Models will also race a total of seven times. The IMCA-type Modifieds also will have seven nights of racing.
