The annual mid-season clash for the country’s top Pro Late Model teams, the Masters of the Pros, has always had a tremendous buildup to each running, especially when coupled with a change in venue. The hype in 2019 is much the same with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour rolling into one of the nation’s great short track stops, the mighty Memphis International Raceway.
The mighty 3/4-mile oval in Millington, Tennessee has quite the record in its two decade history, hosting the likes of NASCAR’s Xfinity and Truck Series in past years, with series such as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series and USAC Silver Crown in more recent times. Now Pro Late Model racers are ready for their shot at a potential $12,000 payday and the coveted green jacket.
On Tuesday, the first look at the entry list was revealed, and it features many of the top names that you expect to see competing for big Pro Late Model races throughout North America.
Alabama’s Augie Grill boasts a career spread that is second to none, with his most recent major accomplishment coming just this past spring when he took his Pro Late Model to another Alabama 200 victory at Montgomery Motor Speedway. But, the line of greatness doesn’t stop there.
Brian Campbell, Travis Braden, Willie Allen, and Josh Brock are another quartet of winners and champions from all across America that are throwing their hats into the 125-lap fight this coming Sunday, July 21.
Young guns such as Carson Hocevar, Mandy Chick, Mason Keller, Jake Garcia, and Hunter Jack are hoping that Memphis will be the stage where they can put their names in the bright lights in Late Model nation. Even veteran drivers like Michael House and Chris Davidson are eager for such a chance.
Davidson in particular is excited for a chance to run at Memphis against a Pro Late Model field with such depth.
“I’ve never raced there, it’s totally new for me, but we’re trying to go to places we’ve never been this year. This race, no matter where it is, has always had a bunch of good racers; RJ (Scott) and Glenn (Luckett) are always doing it right to get these fields,” Davidson told Speed51. “For us, it’s actually kind of close being in Texas; considering Pensacola is our home track at this point.”
Fans of all these drivers will be able to see their hometown favorites race at Memphis live on the Speed51 Network this Sunday afternoon through the pay-per-view broadcast. Click here to order now.
