With the conclusion of the Rowdy Energy Super Select Series powered by Speed51 on Tuesday night, Parker Retzlaff was crowned champion of the 10-race series. For his efforts, Retzlaff earned $500 as well as an invitation to the Speed51 Super Select all-star event.
However, he was not the only driver rewarded for his performance during the sim racing series during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ten positions paid money out of a points fund sponsored by PFC Brakes and Rowdy Energy for the series.
All 10 fund-paying positions were hotly contested, with 11 drivers finishing within Retzlaff in the final points standings and several close battles through the order.
Alex McCollum and Devon Morgan finished tied for second in the series points after Morgan won the season finale at North Wilkesboro Speedway (NC). By virtue of his three wins over the course of the season, McCollum takes the second position in the final points standings over Morgan.
Ryan Doucette finished fourth in points, the highest finisher in the standings who did not win one of the 10 Rowdy Series races. Doucette closed out the season with a third-place finish at North Wilkesboro, leapfrogging Max J. Cookson in the process.
Cookson ultimately finished fifth in points by another slim margin. Kaden Honeycutt took the sixth position in the Rowdy Series points, just two points behind Cookson.
Treyten Lapcevich finished seventh in points, 15 points behind Honeycutt. Riley Stenjem took the eighth spot, 10 points behind Lapcevich.
Two-time race winner Ryan Kuhn finished ninth in points, two markers behind Stenjem. Kuhn finished 20th in the North Wilkesboro finale to Stenjem’s 22nd, as both drivers were involved in incidents.
Another tightly contested battle in the points was for the 10th and final purse-paying position. John Peters, Corey Deuser and Travis Braden entered the season finale two points apart between 10th and 12th in the standings.
Braden was unable to participate in the season finale, and Peters finished eighth to Deuser’s 12th to secure the 10th position in the standings.
In all, 75 drivers competed in the Rowdy Energy Super Select Series powered by Speed51 during the season, which started with the eRattler 250 in March. The series produced six different race winners and featured some of the top real-world Late Model stars in North America, but ultimately only one champion could be crowned.
