Persistent drizzle and light rainfall forced Montgomery Motor Speedway officials to postpone Saturday's Pro Late Model race to Sunday afternoon.
The FourStar Freightliner 100, a Show Me The Money event, will go green at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
Prior to the rain arriving, Augie Grill set fast time in qualifying and drew a one on the redraw. He will lead the field to green Sunday.
"Tomorrow is gonna be hot, muggy and humid," Grill said. "I was pretty happy with the car today in practice and that was in the hot sun, so we should be ok. We have a good starting sport and that's important."
Grill has ran dozens of races at Montgomery during his career.
While most of his starts at the speedway have come under the lights, he has more than his fair share of day races.
The ambient temperature is expected to be in the mid 90s Sunday afternoon, and the brutal Alabama summertime sun will make the asphalt seem like it has no grip.
"You are going to have to tip toe around somewhat tomorrow," Grill said. "It's going to be slick. Hopefully, I'll be able to get out front, tip toe and not get my back bumper beat off."
