The 2015 Speed51.com Short Track Draft presented by PFC Brakes ballot was completed by nearly 100 short track insiders, including media members, team and driver development professionals, track and series promoters and officials, product and industry representatives, NASCAR National Series drivers, crew members and more.  The voters could select as few as 10 and as many as 51 drivers on their ballot, ranked in order that they would choose the drivers to compete for their Driver Development team in the top levels of the sport.  The drivers with the best average result made the list of the top-51 picks in the 2015 Short Track Draft.  The #1 Pick was announced on April 30.  Picks 2-10 were announced at noon on May 1, Picks 11-25 were announced at 5pm ET on May 1.  Picks 26-51 were announced on Monday, May 4 at 5pm ET, while the Best of the Rest will come on Tuesday, May 5.

Aaron Reutzel – 19 (Sprint Cars)

Had 58 starts in 360 Winged Spring & 360 Non-Winged Sprint cars in 2014 with nine wins, 29 top-five’s and 38 top-10 finishes.  He is moving up to run some 410 Sprint events in 2015.

 

Alex Pacheco – 18 (Legends/Late Models)

He is a successful Legends car winner at Hickory Motor Speedway and other tracks in the Southeast.  He is now in the bigger Limited Late Model cars.

 

Alex Papini – 25 (Limited Late Model/Big 8 Series)

Two-time Rockford Speedway track champion and NWAAS State Champion.  Has won multiple Late Model features in the past two years alone at Rockford.

 

Alex Reece – 15 (Legends)

Alex won the 2014 Concord Speedway track championship in the Young Lion division.  He already has two wins and three runner finishes in the Young Lion national events in 2015.

 

Ali Kern – 21 (ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS)

She finished sixth in the 2014 ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS standings with one top five and four top-10 finishes in 12 starts.

 

Anthony Sergi – 19 (Super Late Models)

Sergi continues to run strong in central Florida.  He already has two feature wins at New Smyrna Speedway in 2015 and currently leads the Super Late Model points.

Austin Barnes – 19 (Modifieds)

Austin Barnes is the 2012 Lucas Oil Modified Series champion and current point leader with a win already this year in the season opener at Lake Havasu, AZ.  He also has 12 career series wins and is at or near the top of every speed chart with the traveling tour.  He is also a competitor on the Ultimate Street Car Challenge.

 

Austin Nason – 19 (SLM, PLM, Big 8)

Finished second in the Big 8 Series points in 2014 with three wins, eight top-five and nine top-10 finishes.  Making the step up to run more Super Late Models in 2015.

 

Bayley Currey – 18 (Pro Late Models)

Currey is the 2014 Viper Pro Late Model champion.  He is also the Central Texas Mod Track Champion with four wins and 16 top-10’s in 18 starts.

 

Ben Ashline – 24 (American-Canadian Tour)

PASS Northeast Late Model Series winner in 2014 at Oxford Plains Speedway.  Rebound from offseason surgery to post one top-five and five top-10 ACT finishes in 2014.

 

Blaine Perkins 15 (Late Models)

Became the youngest Late Model winner at Irwindale Speedway in 2014 at the age of 14.  He will be competing in that division on a regular basis in 2015.  He is also a part-time competitor on the Lucas Oil Modified Series with two top-10 finishes in the first two races of the season.

 

Blaine Rocha – 17 (Late Models)

He made six starts in the SRL Spears Southwest Tour in 2014 earning two top-five and three top-10 finishes.  He finished fourth in the 2015 Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway Park.

 

Blake Rogers 16 (Modifieds)

They call him “Blazin’ Blake” and for good reason; he was the 2014 Legends Car champion at Havasu 95 Speedway in Arizona.  The high-school football player is now competing for Rookie of the Year on the Lucas Oil Modified Series.

 

Brad Babb – 22 (ACT, GSPSS)

Winner of the 2015 Merchants Bank 150 at Thunder Road (VT). Only repeat winner with the Granite State Pro Stock Series in 2014.

 

Brandon Gdovic – 23 (K&N East)

He has finished in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Top-10 standings twice in his career with one win and 21 top-10 finishes.  Look for him to make starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series in 2015.

 

Brandon Setzer – 19 (PASS, Super Late Models)

Setzer finished fifth in 2014 PASS points with nine top-10’s .  He also finished second in the point standings at Wake County Speedway (NC).  Already has one top-five in the PASS Series in 2015.

 

Brandon Bock – 18 (SLM/Modifieds)

2013 Riverhead Raceway (NY) and Mountain Legends champ with 10 overall wins.

 

Brandon Watson – 22 (ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS)

Watson has 10 career wins in the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Model Series.  Has one top-five and four top-10 finishes competing in the ARCA/CRA Super Series in 2014.

 

Bryce Napier – 15 (Super Late Models)

Napier is the only west coast driver that is part of the Alan Kulwicki Driver Development program in 2015.  He is also the 2014 Rookie of the Year at Stockton 99 Speedway in CA.   He also made three starts in the Pacific Challenge Series in 2014 with one top-five and two top-10 finishes.

 

Caleb Armstrong – 22 (USAC, ARCA)

He is a winner in midgets and various USAC events.  He also has made six starts in the ARCA Racing Series with one top-five and two top-10 finishes.

 

Casey Johnson – 24 (SLM/Big 8 Series)

Johnson is a two-time Big 8 Series champion (2013, 14) with eight career wins.  He also is the 2013 Triple Crown Series champion at Madison International Speedway (WI).

 

Chad Boat – 23 (Stock Cars/Open Wheel)

Boat is running in a variety of cars by making starts in the ARCA Racing Series and NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.  He is hoping for more starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this year.

 

Chad Finchum – 15 (Late Models)

Chad Finchum has dominated two tracks in Late Model Stock Car competition during the past two years.  He has a track championship at Lonesome Pine Speedway (VA) last year and Kingsport Speedway (TN) in 2013.  In fact, he has won 34 races at the two track combines in that span.

 

Chad Finley – 23 (SLM/PLM/K&N East)

Finley has four career wins in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars tour.  Last year, he made six starts in the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS and has five top-five finishes.

 

Chad Hackenbracht – 24 (ARCA/Trucks)

He has 47 career starts in the ARCA Racing Series with one win; eight top-five and 22 top-10 finishes along with two poles in his career.

Chase Dowling – 17 (NWAAS SK Modifieds)

Youngest winner in Stafford Motor Speedway SK Modified division history.  2014 SK Modified Rookie of the Year at Stafford.  2014 Speed51.com Modified Most Popular Driver. Running full-time on NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in 2015.

 

Chris Hacker – 15 (PLM, Late Model Stocks)

He competed in the CRA Late Model Sportsman Series where he has one win and three top-10 finishes in 2014.  He also made three starts in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour with one top-ten finish.

 

Chris Windom – 24 (USAC Silver Crown)

Windom is a former Little 500 winner and finished second in the USAC Silver Crown points in 2013.  He also posted top-10 finishes in the two dirt events in the ARCA Racing Series in 2013.

 

Claire Decker – 20 (Super Late Models)

She won the 2014 Dick Trickle Memorial at Marshfield Motor Speedway (WI). She also has a top-10 finish last year in the ARCA Midwest Tour.

 

Clint King – 19 (K&N East)

King is a former winner in the PASS Trucks and UARA Series.  He is also a former Pro Challenge National Champion and has four top-five finishes in the ARCA Racing Series.

 

Cole Tanner – 16 (Bandoleros)

He has an INEX Canadian Outlaw championship on his resume.  He also has five wins and ten top-five in 31 starts.

 

Cole Williams – 19 (Pro Late Models)

He has two championships in the last two years. He is the 2014 Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville PLM champion.  He also won the title at I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, MO in 2013 with six wins.  Also was the NWAAS Missouri State Champion.

 

Cruz Skinner – 13 (Dirt Late Models)

He’s been racing for eight years and he’s only 13 years old.  The second generation racer is tearing it up the Alabama racetracks while competing against people two and three times his age.  At 12 years old in 2014 he became the youngest winner in the NeSmith Weekly Racing Series to win at the Talladega Short Track.

 

Dakota Stroup – 24 (PLM/SLM)

Stroup is the 2012 New Smyrna Speedweeks Pro Late Model champion.  He is a regional contender around Tennessee.

Dalton Armstrong – 20 (JEGS, Open Wheel)

Armstrong started off 2015 by winning the New Smyrna Speedweeks Pro Late Model championship.  He is always a contender in JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour competition along with success in USAC open wheel competition.

 

Dalton Zehr – 24 (Super Late Models)

The 2014 TUNDRA Super Late Model Series champion had three wins, six top-five’s and seven top-ten finishes in eight starts.  He also finished fifth in the Slinger Nationals.

 

Dan Leeck – 25 (PLM)

Leeck won the 2014 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour championship with eight top-five’s and nine top-10 finishes in 13 starts.  He finished third in the 2013 standings.

 

Dave Farrington, Jr. – 22 (NWAAS, ACT, PASS)

2014 Maine NASCAR Whelen All-American Series champion after winning Pro Series championship at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway (ME).  14 top-five finishes in 15 starts.  Member of the 2015 Kulwicki Driver Development Program.

 

Dave Garbo, Jr. – 18 (NASCAR K&N Pro Series East)

2015 World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing Super Late Model winner.  Four wins at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) in 2013.  Running full-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series East in 2015.

 

Derek Griffin – 24 (Modifieds/SLM/PLM)

Griffin made eight starts in the Top Speed Modified Tour last year with three wins, five top-five’s and seven top-10 finishes in 2014.  He also started seventh in last year’s Snowball Derby.

 

Derek Kraus – 13 (Trucks, SLM)

The young driver won the American Ethanol Super Truck Series Spring Classic opener at Rockford Speedway (IL) last month.  He also made his Super Late Model debut at 2015 New Smyrna Speedweeks.

 

Derek Ramstrom – 23 (PASS, SLM)

2014 PASS 300 winner at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway (ME).  2014 Granite State Pro Stock Series winner of Thompson (CT) World Series.  2014 DAV Memorial Pro Stock Open winner at Seekonk (MA).

 

Derek Scott Jr. – 16 (PLM/SLM)

The young pilot from Texas kicked off his 2015 season by winning a Pro Late Model feature during New Smyrna Speedweeks and finished second overall in points.  He is also the 2014 Central Texas champion.

 

Devin Moran – 20 (Dirt Late Models)

He is the 20 year-old son of legendary racer Donnie Moran.  In 2014 he won 18 Dirt Late Model races and he is the 2013 Muskingum Speedway Track Champion.  This year Devin is running with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

 

Dillon Bassett – 18 (NASCAR K&N Pro Series East)

12 regional wins in NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock competition in 2014. Made the move up to join older brother Ronnie in the K&N East ranks full-time in 2015.

Dillon Moltz – 23 (GSPSS, SLM)

2014 Granite State Pro Stock Series champion.  Winner of the 2015 DT100 Heavyweight feature.  Winner of the 2015 GSPSS Icebreaker event at Thompson (CT).

 

Dillon Oliver – 25 (PLM/SLM)

Oliver is a former Pro Late Model All-American 400 winner at the Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville (TN).  He also is a winner in the Sunoco National Tour.

 

DJ Shaw – 25 (PASS North)

2014 Pro All Stars Series North champion.  2014 PASS Easter Bunny 150 winner.  11 career PASS wins.

 

Donald MacIntosh – 21 (Dirt Late Models)

2014 was a banner year for this youngster who is beating the veterans of the Dirt Late Model world.  He won the Bill Ingram Memorial at Dixie Speedway and was the track champ at both Dixie and Rome Speedway’s in Georgia.  To kick off this year he traveled up to 411 Speedway in Tennessee to win “The Hangover” race on New Year’s Day.

 

Eric Mauriello – 21 (Modifieds)

2014 winner of the prestigious Turkey Derby at Wall Stadium (NJ).

 

Erick Rudolph – 23 (Modifieds, Indoor)

Three career RoC Asphalt Modified wins.  2015 Gamblers Classic winner at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City (NJ).

 

Fred Rahmer Jr. – 18 (Sprint Cars)

The second-generation driver is currently racing 410 Sprint cars.  He is the 2013 SpeedSTR National champion.

 

Garrett Campbell – 23 (LMSC/SLM)

Campbell collected eight wins in the former UARA Series with 42 Top-10 finishes.  He was also a regional winner at Caraway Speedway along with being a former winner of the Myrtle Beach 400.

 

Gracin Raz – 16 (K&N West/SLM)

Raz recently finished second at the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Tucson Speedway in Arizona.  He also has a fourth and sixth place finish in his three K&N West races this season.

 

Gus Dean – 20 (SLM/Pro Cup)

Dean won his first Pro Cup Series event in 2014 in Memphis.  He has 31 top-10’s and 22 top-fives in 33 starts in Pro Cup.  He is now focusing on his Super Late Model program in 2015.

 

Hannah Newhouse – 18 (K&N West/SLM/Trucks)

Newhouse is a two-time winner in the ASA Pro Truck Series along with finishing fourth in the 2013 Rocky Mountain Challenge Series.  She is competing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West in 2015.

 

Jacob Gomes – 22 (SLM)

Gomes has 56 starts in the SRL Spears Southwest Tour with four wins, 19 top-five’s and 35 top-10 finishes.  He also has seven starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West.

 

Jared Irvan – 16 (SLM)

The son of former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Ernie Irvan is starting to make a name for himself in Late Model racing.   He finished third in the 2014 PASS South points with four top-five’s and 10 top-10 finishes.

 

Jessey Mueller – 20 (Dirt Mods, NWAAS)

2014 Northern Modified Challenge Series champion.  Four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series D-1 wins at Devil’s Bowl (VT).  Plans on racing on dirt at New York tracks such as Albany-Saratoga in 2015.

2011-2014 track champion at Chemung (NY).  2013 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series New York champion.  2014 RoC Shangri-La Fall Brawl winner.

Karsyn Elledge – 14 (Mini-Outlaw Series)

She is the daughter of Kelly Earnhardt Miller and NASCAR veteran crew chief Jimmy Elledge.  She has 17 wins at North Carolina’s Millbridge Speedway and has accolades of being the track’s Box Stock and 125 cc champion.  She also finished third in the MIni Outlaw Series points in 2014.

Kodie Connor – 14 (PASS Pro Late Models)

The kid with the tiger-stripe Late Model is tearing up the PASS Pro Late Model scene down south.  He is a graduate of the Bandolero wars around the Carolinas and a winner at the Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  He has won three of the four PASS PLM races this year to add to his victory total of five from last year.

 

Kody Swanson – 17 (USAC)

2014 USAC Silver Crown champion.  Three USAC wins and multiple Midget wins.

 

Kristopher Graver – 21 (Modifieds)

2014 Mahoning Valley Speedway track champion. Youngest Mahoning Valley track champion in the track’s history.

 

Kyle Ebersole – 24 (NWSMT)

2013 Stateline Speedway Late Model champion.  Rookie of the Year contender in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West in 2015.  Second-place K&N West finish at Irwindale (CA) in 2015.

 

Paige Decker – 22 (SLM)

She is a winner in the TUNDRA Super Late Model Series (2013) along with competing at New Smyrna Speedweeks.  She also made two starts at New Smyrna in 2015.  She also has been part of the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program.

 

Parker Price Miller – 17 (Dirt)

The teenager is a former POWRi Midget Rookie of the Year and a multi-time sprint car winner.  Last month, he won his first 410-Sprint main at Fremont Speedway in Jacksonville, IL

After graduating summa cum laude from Harvard University, Staropoli was the fastest at ARCA’s winter test session at Daytona International Speedway. He made two starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West in 2014, where he won at Irwindale Speedway (CA).

 

Paul Shafer, Jr. – 18 (SLM)

Several strong SLM runs in 2014.  Track champion at Illiana (IL).  Finished 17th in first Snowball Derby start in 2013.  Finished fifth in SLM points at New Smyrna (FL) World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.

 

Payton Ryan – 16 (PLM, LMSC)

2015 Late Model Stock winner at Hickory.  2014 Dirty Dozen winner at Motor Mile (VA).

In the Dirt Late Model realm, Ross Bailes is standing out as a young up-and-comer in the land where veterans dominate.  He was the Southeaster Crate Association Dirt LM champ with a couple of handful of wins along the way.  Now he’s got a chance in a potent ride for 2015 and has already won the FUEL racing series opener in Cherokee, SC.

 

Ryan Bernal – 21 (Sprints)

The California driver has 12 wins in 360 Sprints in 2014.   He also has two victories in the USAC Western Sprints competition.

 

Ryan Gustin – 24 (USMTS)

Two wins in United States Modified Touring Series competition thus far in 2015.  Three NCRA Late Model wins during the 2014 season.

 

Scott Heckert – 21 (NASCAR K&N Pro Series East)

Picked up the first two wins of his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East career in 2014.  Finished eighth overall in points.

 

Sergio Pena – 22 (NASCAR K&N Pro Series East)

Four career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East wins.  Scored first win in three years at Columbus (OH) in 2014.

 

Shawna Ingraham – 20 (Modifieds)

2011 Sportsman Rookie of the Year at Wall Stadium (NJ).  Became the first female driver to win a Wall Stadium Modified feature in 2013.

Stephen Nasse – 19 (SLM)

Two-time Red Eye 100 winner at New Smyrna (FL).  Has a second-place finish in the prestigious Rattler 250 Super Late Model event at South Alabama Speedway.

The New Mexico driver currently has 14 wins in 63 career starts along with 36 top-five’s and 51 top-10s in the United States Modified Touring Series.  He already has two top-five finishes in the Lucas Oil Late Model Series in 2015.

 

Tanner Thorson – 18 (Midgets)

This rising star finished fourth in the 2015 Chili Bowl after starting 18th.  He picked up wins last year at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI and Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, IL.

 

Tanner Swanson – 24 (Sprint Cars)

He has over 30 wins in USAC Sprints and is a two-time USAC Western States Sprint Champion.  Also, is a former USAC Midgets Night before the 500 winner.

 

Taylor Miinch – 19 (Modifieds)

Won the 2011 ASA Truck Series champion, but this year is making his mark once again, this time on the Lucas Oil Modified trail.  He opened the season with two impressive top-five runs and will battle for the series championship.  He is currently attending San Diego State University.

 

TJ Reaid – 25 (SLM, Dirt)

Former All American 400 winner at Nashville (TN).  Three career ARCA/CRA Super Series wins.  Cutting back asphalt Super Late Model program in 2015 in order to race more in the dirt ranks.

 

Tommy Barrett, Jr. – 20 (Modifieds)

NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour winner at Bristol in 2014.  Eight career Valenti Modified Racing Series wins.  Lost full-time NWMT ride in 2015 due to an off-track incident.

Travis Eddy – 25 (Modifieds)

He is the son of ASA National Tour champion Mike Eddy, aka “The Polar Bear.”  He has been running the Midwest Modified scene the last couple of years.  In fact, he had three wins on the Top Speed Modified Tour last season and kicked off this year with a big win during Florida Speedweeks at New Smyrna Speedway.

 

Tyler Roahrig – 24 (Outlaw LM/SLM)

He is the only two-time Summer Sizzler winner and finished second in the Kalamazoo Klash twice.  Sat out most of 2014 recovering from injuries in a bad wreck.  He recently made his first start since the accident in an Outlaw Late Model, and went out and won his first night back.
