Behind every great driver is a great team. The crew members that put in countless hours at the shop and at the track sometimes do not receive the recognition deserved for a job well done. The combination of a great driver and a great crew is the recipe for making great things happen on the track.
That’s why the team at PitBoxes.com, who specialize in fabricating a high quality line of standard and custom pit boxes, is proud to honor a monthly “Pit Crew of the Month” from the short track ranks of America on Speed51.com. Each month, an esteemed panel of short track industy insiders will vote on which pit crew helped lead their driver to success on the track. The pit crew with the most votes will then be the “PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Month” and will receive a $100 product certificate to use at PitBoxes.com. At the end of the 2016 season, the pit crew that received the most votes throughout the season will then be the “PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Year” and will be awarded a $1,000 product certificate to PitBoxes.com. Richard Moody Racing
Super Late Models
When Mike Rowe joined his son Ben at Richard Moody Racing during the offseason, many people wondered just how successful the two-car team would be. After years of success competing with the Pro All Stars Series, the team and driver Ben Rowe had admittedly struggled in recent years as a one-car team. So that fact alone made racing enthusiasts question whether the team would take a step back or a step forward by growing their operation.
Over the offseason, Richard Moody Racing paired with Crazy Horse Racing in South Paris, Maine in an attempt to better their racing program. Mickey Green began playing the role of crew chief for Ben and championship-winning crew chief Brian Burgess joined the team to oversee all aspects of Mike Rowe’s No. 24 team.
In their first race as a two-car team with both Rowe’s behind the wheel, the Richard Moody Racing team answered those questions with an exclamation point. Ben qualified fourth and Mike qualified fifth against a stiff field of 41 cars during the Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC). An invert of five put both Rowe’s on the front row and they would put on a show for those at the track and those watching on Speed51.com.
Ben Rowe eventually prevailed in the battle between the Richard Moody Racing cars and went on to dominate the 150-lap race against a very tough group of Super Late Model competitors.
The team carried their momentum into the month of April when Ben recorded a top-five finish during the PASS North opener at Thompson (CT) and picked up a win during the second race of the season at Oxford Plains (ME). Mike Rowe also recorded a top-five finish in the race at Oxford which featured over 40 cars trying to qualify.
For their hard work in preparing two fast race cars and their ability to come out of the box strong with a two-car team, the Richard Moody Racing team has been named 51’s PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Month for the month of March.
