Behind every great driver is a great team. The crew members that put in countless hours at the shop and at the track sometimes do not receive the recognition deserved for a job well done. The combination of a great driver and a great crew is the recipe for making great things happen on the track.
That’s why the team at PitBoxes.com, who specialize in fabricating a high quality line of standard and custom pit boxes, is proud to honor a monthly “Pit Crew of the Month” from the short track ranks of America on Speed51.com. Each month, an esteemed panel of short track industy insiders will vote on which pit crew helped lead their driver to success on the track. The pit crew with the most votes will then be the “PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Month” and will receive a $100 product certificate to use at PitBoxes.com. At the end of the 2016 season, the pit crew that received the most votes throughout the season will then be the “PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Year” and will be awarded a $1,000 product certificate to PitBoxes.com. This edition of the “PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Month” for the month of August goes to……
Building a new race car can be a stressful task. Crews have to make sure all their i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed before putting their new car on the race track. But most crews build cars during the offseason and have months to make sure everything is crossed off their checklist. Matt Sheppard didn’t have that much time, however.
After flipping his No. 9s Dirt Modified at Canandaigua Motorsports Park (NY) on August 27, “Super Matt” and his crew had less than one week to build a new car for an upcoming Super DIRTcar Series race at Lebanon Valley Speedway (NY). They accomplished that task and did so in a big way by dominating in their first time out with the new car, winning Mr. Dirt Track USA.
Sheppard didn’t stop there. With the new car underneath him, he has now scored six straight wins and is undefeated. His wins include Super DIRTcar Series victories at Weedsport Speedway (NY), Le RPM Speedway (QC) and Lebanon Valley, as well as an RoC Dirt Modified Series win at Utica-Rome Speedway (NY) and weekly Big-Block Modified wins at Canandaigua and Utica-Rome.
For his team’s dedication to building a brand new car, and doing it the right way, Matt Sheppard’s No. 9s Dirt Modified team has been named August’s PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Month.
