Stewart Friesen won his third NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week Big-Block Modified 200 in the last five years Sunday afternoon at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.
That statement alone makes the native Canadian-turned-Sprakers, New York resident a dominant force in the annuls of Super DIRT Week. The way he won his third race may have made the 31-year-old a legend.
Friesen charged through the field in the final 50 laps of the 200-lap feature on the one-mile oval after making several pit stops to fix a broken shock mount. He then passed Matt Sheppard the hard way – on the outside – on a lap 194 restart to earn his second victory.
For his dominating performance in the Big-Block 200 in Syracuse, Stewart Friesen is this week’s winner of the Maxima Racing Oils Dominator Award on Speed51.com. Friesen will receive a product certificate from Maxima Racing Oils.
