For the week: July 21 through July 27, 2014

The Hy-Miler Nationals at Ohio’s Sandusky Speedway is considered by many aficionados of the winged ISMA Supermodifieds to be one of the most prestigious events on the circuit.  It was also one that meant a lot to “Liquid” Lou Cicconi, a driver who had won big races up and down the east coast, but had only come up short in his bids for Hy-Miler victories in the past.

On July 26, Cicconi took the lead in the 100-lap Hy-Miler Nationals on lap 16.  From there, he had to withstand challenges from ISMA’s best, including Bobby Santos III, Mike Lichty, Moe Lilje and others.  Perhaps the biggest foe to Cicconi’s bid for a first Hy-Miler Nationals victory was Mother Nature, who forced a more-than three-hour rain delay on the event.  Still, Cicconi was able to pick up right where he left off before the rain and earn that elusive first Hy-Miler victory.

For his dominant performance at Sandusky, Lou Cicconi is this week’s Maxima Racing Oils Dominator.  Cicconi will receive a product certificate from Maxima Racing Oils.
