Two wins and an emotional setting in victory lane made Casey Johnson’s Sunday at Jefferson Speedway in Wisconsin a memorable one.
The 23-year-old from Stoughton, Wisconsin won both ends of the Big 8 Series’ twin 65-lap features Sunday at Jefferson, earning his first Wisconsin State Championships title. He was in the right place when leaders Dale Nottestad and Alex Papini tangled up front late in the first race and worked his way to the front in the final 15 laps of the second race to sweep the day’s Late Model features.
Johnson wheeled a tribute paint scheme for an ill friend (more on this story Tuesday on Speed51.com) to victory lane twice on a day that featured more than 40 Late Models going for the prestigious win.
Johnson’s performance at Jefferson makes him this week’s winner of the Maxima Racing Oils Dominator Award. Johnson will receive a product certificate from Maxima Racing Oils.
