The nation’s leading short track racing internet supplier, Speed51.com, owned and operated by NASCAR television broadcaster Bob Dillner from Charlotte, North Carolina, has entered into an agreement with Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT to have the 52nd annual People’s United Bank Milk Bowl broadcast on the 51 TV pay-per-view schedule of events. The famous event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 4-5, 2014.
The unique Milk Bowl, established in 1962, received national recognition from Speed Sport News, considered the leader in racing journalism, in 2004. The award for the “Best Short Track”event of the year was voted on by the nation’s promoters.
Billed as the “toughest short track race in America”by Thunder Road founder and former CBS television motorsports anchor, Ken Squier, the three segment event is unique with the inversion of the final two 50 lap segments, and a combined scoring system using finishes in all three segments. Low score wins the first place $10,000.00.
“Tough is a pretty tame description when you invert a 30-car field on a quarter mile, with 18 degree high banks, and a 4th turn that is called the ‘widow maker’”, said the 2010 Milk Bowl winner and soon to be crowned 2014 American Canadian Tour (ACT) champion, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. from Hudson, NH.
With the prime fall foliage that Vermont is internationally recognized for as the backdrop, race fans from throughout the Northeast and eastern Canada traditionally have used the Milk Bowl as their final event of the racing season in Northern New England.
“We are really looking forward to having the Milk Bowl as part of our inaugural season of 51 TV. This event is known throughout the United States and Canada as one of the special short track shows. Our staff at Speed 51 is certainly excited about bringing all the ceremony that is traditional for the Milk Bowl to the short track racing fans around the country. I know they won’t be disappointed,”concluded Bob Dillner.
More details regarding the 51 TV broadcast of the event are coming soon.
If you are coming to the event at the legendary track, two-day Adult tickets are just $30. Tickets for just Milk Bowl Sunday are only $25.00. All kids 12 and under are admitted free both days.
