Only 51 days remain until the best Super Late Model drivers from around the country face off in the most anticipated short track race of the year: the 51st Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway.
Every December, the Snowball Derby returns to Pensacola, Florida even bigger and better than the year before and the 51st edition of the prestigious event is already exceeding expectations.
Entries have been pouring into the Five Flags Speedway office as teams finalize their decision to compete for the coveted Tom Dawson trophy. Speed51.com will be releasing the official list of drivers currently entered to run 300 laps around the historic half-mile oval in the coming weeks.
Some of those drivers can be seen at Five Flags the Saturday before Thanksgiving in the Snowball Derby Preview. Teams will have one final chance to tune their machines prior to the week of the Snowball Derby in a day-long practice session on November 17.
On Wednesday, November 27 Dave Pavlock’s voice will echo around the track as he famously announces the arrival of teams during rig parking. A 50-lap Pure Stock feature will officially kick off racing action for Snowball Derby week later that evening.
Super and Pro Late Models will start practice Thursday morning with Sportsmen and Outlaw Stocks 50-lap features being held that night.
All attention will be on the Super Late Models Friday evening as they qualify for starting positions in the Snowball Derby. The Modifieds will then take center stage with a 75-lap feature.
Saturday or “Snowball Derby Eve” will feature Snowflake qualifying, the Snowflake qualifier and of course, the Snowflake 100. After the Pro Late Models run their event, the Pro Trucks will cap off the night with their 50-lap race.
Last but not least, Five Flags Speedway will welcome thousands of people on Sunday afternoon to witness history unfold in the 51st Annual Snowball Derby.
