ULTIMATE Super Late Model racers will need to wait one more month to chase the richest prize of the 2020 season. Following an extended period of rain Friday night and with a poor forecast for Saturday, officials with ULTIMATE Heart of America Series and Richmond Raceway made the decision to postpone the 33rd Annual Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial until September 18-19.
Preliminary action for the event was initially scheduled to take place Friday night; however, rain showers shortly after hot laps resulted in cars being pulled off the track. After waiting out the rain, the decision to postpone the event was made around 7:30 p.m.
Prior to the postponement of the race, 31 ULTIMATE Super Late Models were signed in and ready to chase the $20,059 prize. Michael Chilton was fastest in hot laps before the skies opened up.
A strong field of drivers were in attendance, including defending race winner Tyler Carpenter and rising star Hudson O’Neal.
The event was sanctioned by the ULTIMATE Heart of America Series and co-sanctioned by the ULTIMATE Mid-Ohio Valley Series. The race also served as a bonus race for ULTIMATE Southeast and ULTIMATE Northeast drivers.
More information on the rescheduled event will be available soon.
