Angola, Indiana – With the 2015 racing season wrapped up, and the calendar fast approaching 2016, officials from the Broaster Chicken ICAR Top Speed Modifieds Tour have announced an eagerly anticipated itinerary for the upcoming circuit.
The 2016 Southern Division season kicks off on Sunday, April 3 at the Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis for the Cabin Fever Championships for a 60-lap event. The series was absent from the Circle City speed plant in 2015 after a scheduled event was washed out, but looks to return in a big way for their one and only appearance in Indianapolis.
The Northern Division opener is the next top on the schedule with a surprising return to the .375 mile Springport Motor Speedway in Springport, Michigan on Sunday, May 1. Less than two weeks later the Northern Division continues on for the first of two stops at the legendary Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan for the first of two stops in West Michigan.
Sunday, May 22 is an eagerly anticipated date on the calendar as the Southern Division makes a stop at Spitzer Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio for the series first stop at the .500 mile oval since the 2005 racing season. Two dates marked ‘To Be Announced’ follow for the Southern tour on Sunday, May 29 and Saturday, June 4.
Saturday, June 18 the series makes its second stop at the Berlin Raceway for a 51-lap event in support of the prestigious Battle at Berlin 251, and then six days later take on the daunting task of the legendary Toledo Speedway, which moves to a Northern Division race after being a stop on the South tour in 2015.
The tour makes it’s next stop at the high-banks of the Winchester Speedway for the first of three stops for the Don’t Shoot Your Eye Out 50 on Saturday, June 25. Then another jaunt up north for the Windpusher 70 at the Flint, Michigan adjacent Auto City Speedway for one of their marquee events.
Sunday, July 17 will see the series second appearance in Mansfield, Ohio with another To Be Announced date sandwiched between the first of three combination races for the Northern and Southern tour. The two divisions collide at Baer Field Speedway in Fort Wayne, Indiana for the running of the Dean Best Memorial 75 on Saturday, July 30.
Two more combination events take place on back-to-back dates as the tour moves into the month of August with a 75 lap event at Birch Run, Michigan’s Dixie Motor Speedway on Friday, August 5. The next day to the series moves just over an hour north to the tight .250 mile Whittemore Speedway for the Hot Shoe 100 for the final combination race of the 2016 season.
The series closes out the year with two more stops at the Winchester .500 mile for the Run for the BB Gun 50 over Sunday and Monday, September 4-5 and the Run for the Gun 50 on Saturday and Sunday, October 8-9.
