“ARbodies is pleased to partner with Speed51.com for the eighth year in sponsoring the Most Popular Driver Award,” said Jerry Criswell, President of ARbodies.  “The Speed51.com/ARbodies Late Model Most Popular Driver Award is unique in that it not only recognizes the drivers and crews for their hard work on track during the year, but also in their endeavors of connecting, relating and interacting with their fans, as evidenced by the more than 70,000 votes cast in last year’s voting and we know the voting total will grow even larger this year.”

ARbodies will award a free “A” package body to the overall winner of the 2014 Most Popular Driver voting.  The ballot will be open to the top-10 in touring series points or top-five in local track Late Model points as of September 1, 2014.    Should the overall winner be a touring series driver, ARbodies will award a product certificate good for $750 off an “M” package body to the local division driver with the highest number of votes.

Fans can vote daily on Speed51.com and via a direct link to the voting page, www.speed51MPD.com.

“The Most Popular Driver voting is one of the most anticipated features each year on Speed51.com,” said Bob Dillner, motorsports broadcaster and owner of Speed51.com.  “ARbodies has been a great partner and has helped build this into one of the most heated off-track competitions in short track racing.  It’s great to have their support and to see how many drivers promote their votes on their websites and social media.  We’ve even seen some drivers promote votes by putting “Vote for Me” decals on their racecars in recent seasons.  This is one award that every Late Model driver wants to win and it’ll be interesting to see how far some racers will go to get their passionate fan bases to click votes their way on Speed51.com.”

Cole Williams, a driver at Lebanon I-44 Speedway in Missouri, was the 2013 Speed51.com Late Model Most Popular Driver as voted by the fans.  In 2012, Kenzie Ruston became the first female driver to win the title of Late Model Most Popular Driver.

The MPD program began in 2007 with Florida and Alabama Pro Late Model regular Andy Pugh taking the fans’ vote.  In the 2008 voting, ARCA Midwest Tour regular Nick Murgic received the most votes.  In 2009, the MPD voting expanded from Pro Late Model, Super Late Model and Late Model Stock touring series to include weekly tracks that have Late Model divisions that utilize the Approved Body Configuration (ABC) body style.  Ross Kenseth, son of former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Matt Kenseth, took in the most votes in a close tally with another Cup Champ’s kid, Chase Elliott, and Texan Dillon Spreen.  Texan Trey Mitchell won the overall balloting in 2010.  Josh Berry, a JR Motorsports Late Model driver, won the award in 2011.

Voting for the 2014 Speed51.com Late Model Most Popular Driver presented by ARbodies is open now through the end of the year.  Fans can vote once per day.  51 also allows for write-in candidates to be voted for on a form at the bottom of the ballot.
