Mooresville, N.C. — 2014 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards champion Mason Mitchell will make his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut this Saturday in the NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 at the .25 mile Bowman Gray Stadium.
Mitchell will team with Hattori Racing Enterprises (HRE) to drive the No. 1 Toyoda Gosei Toyota. The 20-year-old will be reunited with veteran crew chief Jamie Jones. Jones and Mitchell have worked together in the past, most recently last year at Mason Mitchell Motorsports.
“Our test was successful on Wednesday,” Mitchell stated. “We made big gains all day and continued to improve our car. The biggest challenge was learning the grip level in these tires compared to an ARCA car. I can’t thank everyone at HRE and Shige Hattori enough for allowing me to make my NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut this weekend.”
“Qualifying is going to be a key component for the race. A winner has never started outside the top-ten so we need to start up front. I really enjoyed the track during the test and am looking forward to a successful race Saturday.”
Mitchell is no stranger racing on short tracks in the ARCA Racing Series. Mitchell has made 22 starts accumulating 17 top-ten’s along with 9 top-five finishes. Mitchell’s best finish on short tracks is second three times most recently at the Salem Speedway last fall.
The NASCAR Hall of Fame will be broadcasted on the NBC Sports Network Thursday, June 4th at 6:00 p.m. EST.
