Carson Hocevar led the final 60 laps to win his first career JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour race in the series’ first ever trip to the tricky Kil-Kare Raceway in Xenia, Ohio. The 14-year-old driver set sail on the field on the final restart of the race, 40 laps in.

“I can’t thank everyone at KBR Development enough. They give me such good cars,” Hocevar told powered by JEGS, “We knew we were gonna have to save tires but we had to save the engine too. The thing was blowing up since lap 20. It was smoking.  My feet were on fire and it blew up literally when I got into victory lane.

300x250 Summer Thunder 2017.07.13“I knew we were way under power and were losing as much time as we could so I was hoping we could just get it over with.  I was praying that we didn’t get a caution and we just got lucky. (Travis) Braden and (Brandon) Oakley both have a lot of laps here so it was cool to beat them.”

Local driver Drew Charlson dominated the first portion of the race, but was involved in an accident with a lapped car 40 laps in.

“We were just in the wrong place at the wrong time, I guess. That’s just how it goes,” Charlson said of the accident. “We had a really good car. I was only rolling at 70-percent at the time and my spotter was telling me to back off. I know we would’ve had something for them at the end.”

Runner-up Travis Braden was happy about his result after being involved in a multi-car caution on lap 2.

“I felt like we had a great car. We got really loose there at the end trying to work through traffic.  Heck of a weekend,” Braden recapped.   “Our guys brought something new here and we got even better. I’m happy for these guys to finally finish a race this year with a good result, but I wish we would’ve got the win though. They deserve it.”

The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will be in action again this Saturday as they take on the tough 7/16-mile of Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan.
