(Mooresville, N.C. July 30, 2014-) Throughout the last year Mason Mitchell driver of the No. 98 Musselman’s-Wildlife Foundation of Florida-TTS Ford has become the model of consistency in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards earning 20 straight top-ten finishes. That streak ended last week at Lucas Oil Raceway (LOR) with a 20th place finish, due to a burnt rear gear that sidelined the No. 98 car. This week the series heads back to one of Mitchell’s most successful tracks Pocono Raceway. The Iowa native finished runner-up in the June event to Sprint Cup driver Kyle Larson.
Mason Mitchell Quotes on Pocono Raceway
“I learned a lot in the June race. The biggest thing for me was being able to figure out what I needed for the end of the race and being consistent for the long runs.”
“Friday will be a completely different race than what we saw in June. It’s quite a short race, only 50 laps. The race will come down to track position and fuel mileage. This race went caution free last August so it’s going to be exciting.”
Mitchell at Pocono Raceway: Mitchell has three prior starts at Pocono Raceway with three top-ten finishes, two top-five’s and a best finish of second in June. Mitchell has an average finish of 5.0 at Pocono
Musselman’s Back On-Board: Musselman’s Apple Sauce will be back on the hood of Mitchell’s No. 98 this Friday at Pocono. This is the third race that Mussleman’s has been featured on the hood of the No. 98 car in 2014.
Lucas Oil Raceway Review: After starting in the second position Mitchell quickly took the lead from Brandon Jones and led the next 54 circuits. Mitchell would retake the lead on lap 109 and lead until lap 117 and then settle into the third position before a rear gear issue ended Mitchell’s night. The No. 98 team finished in the 20th position.
