Behind every great driver is a great team.  The crew members that put in countless hours at the shop and at the track sometimes do not receive the recognition deserved for a job well done.  The combination of a great driver and a great crew is the recipe for making great things happen on the track.

That’s why the team at, who specialize in fabricating a high quality line of standard and custom pit boxes, is proud to honor a monthly “Pit Crew of the Month” from the short track ranks of America on  Each month, an esteemed panel of short track industy insiders will vote on which pit crew helped lead their driver to success on the track.  The pit crew with the most votes will then be the “ Pit Crew of the Month” and will receive a $200 product certificate to use at  For more on, visit their website today.

Derek Griffith and the No. 12 LCM Racing team have earned a reputation for being real racers in recent years.  The New Hampshire-based team has become known for their willingness and desire to do whatever it takes in order to race as much as possible. That proved to be true during the month of February when the team put in hours upon hours of work to compete in eight races while snow was flying in their home state.

Griffith kicked off the month of February by heading south to New Smyrna Speedway for the 52nd Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing. While the results weren’t exactly what they were hoping for, the team demonstrated their never give up attitude.

During the sixth night of the nine-day event, the team discovered a problem with the chassis during an early practice session.  Instead of calling it quits, they made a trip to a local shop, made the necessary repairs and made their way back to New Smyrna Speedway on a open trailer just in time for qualifying.  Later that night, Griffith recorded his best finish of the week with a third-place finish.

On the final night of racing, Griffith experienced more bad luck when engine problems sent him to the sidelines early after starting from the pole position.  After a few hours of sleep, the team began their journey back to Hudson, New Hampshire.

They returned to their home base Monday morning and immediately began preparing a car for the PASS South Carolina Clash at Dillon Motor Speedway.  After two days of work, it was on the road again for Griffith and his team.  The team arrived at Dillon on Wednesday evening and went right back to work during Thursday’s practice day at the track.

Two days later, the team was rewarded for their efforts when Griffith charged from his 13th starting spot to win his first career PASS South race.

For their hard work and determination, the Derek Griffith Motorsports team has been awarded the Pit Crew of the Month for the month of February.
