By the Numbers: Breaking Down the Easter Bunny 150

April 14, 2017 • App, Archives, Late Models, Region - Southeast, Top Stories

It’s Easter Weekend, which means the Easter Bunny 150 is upon us. If you’re in the North Carolina area, you need to get out to Hickory Motor Speedway on Saturday night for what is guaranteed to be a great night of racing. If you can’t make it to the track you can always watch our live stream of the race on Speed51 TV by clicking here. To get you ready for tomorrow’s running of the Easter Bunny 150 we decided to take an in-depth look at the event and go By the Numbers.

3: Matt Craig is looking to win three-straight PASS races after wins at Southern National and Orange County. The feat has not been done in the south since Preston Peltier in 2014.

300x250 Easter Bunny 1503: Hickory Motor Speedway looks to create a third-straight first time winner after Chris Dilbeck, and Tate Fogleman notched wins last fall.

3: Preston Peltier is the only three-time winner of the Easter Bunny 150.

10: Remember the top 10 re-draw for starting spots which throws in a wild card for the front runners.

11: Ben Rowe has made 11 starts in the Easter Bunny having run every one since the first.  Rowe has two wins in 2009 and 2016 and a total of five top five finishes in the Easter Bunny.

12: This will be the 12th running of the Easter Bunny 150.

15: Christian Eckes is ready to pocket another win after the strong ending to the 2016 season.  Eckes won the Myrtle Beach 400, Thanksgiving Classic and the Snowball Derby caping off the best ending to a season in recent short track history.

15: Maine driver Mike Hopkins returns to Hickory Motor Speedway looking to finish what he started in 2015.  Hopkins was second at Greenville last year and ran well at Hickory each time he has raced there.  Hopkins was strong in the north with a win at Star Speedway and was third at Lee USA Speedway.  Let’s see if Hopkins starts off 2017 well.

36%: of the Easter Bunny 150’s have been won by drivers from Maine.  There will be several in attendance looking to keep up the win total.

51: Fresh off a strong second-place run at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (CT) last week, Eddie Fatscher heads to Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) to continue his early season success. Fatscher might not be the only 51 as Kyle Busch Motorsports has an entry on the books, but no driver has been listed as of yet.

76: He’s been super hot this year at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) this season and now the track’s Late Model stock Point leader Ryan Millington will be in action at the Easter Bunny 150.  Millington has won four-times this season in nine races.  Millington will pilot the Jerick Johnson number 76 ride.

97: Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. a former Oxford 250 winner will head to Hickory for the first time in his career. Joey Pole won three times last year in PASS North action and now he’s going to take his show on the road looking to take a win back to New Hampshire.

139: This will be the 139th PASS South race and 24th at Hickory Motor Speedway.  Over the years there have been 15 different winners in 23 races. Preston Peltier has six wins at Hickory. Peltier has two runner-up finishes and three third-place runs for 11 finishes on the podium.

2006:  The PASS South Series got it’s start at Hickory Motor Speedway in 2006 in the first Easter Bunny 150.  On that day Maine veteran Mike Rowe snuck away with the win.

Repeat Champion?: Matt Craig has won two of the first three events making this the strongest start to a PASS South season in many years.  There has never been a repeat champion in PASS South, but Craig is out of the gates strong after three events.

Roll Call: A strong list of former Hickory winners includes last year’s Easter Bunny winner Ben Rowe.  The two fall winners Tate Fogleman and Chris Dilbeck will be there in action.  Other former Hickory winners include Tyler Church, Brandon Setzer, and Heath Hindman.

Two-in-a-Rowe?:  Ben Rowe finished a strong second at the most recent PASS South event at Orange County Speedway.  Now the three-time Hickory winner will seek his third Easter Bunny 150 as he looks to become the first driver to win back-to-back bunny events.
