Pope, Armstrong, Long & Kyle Busch Team All Test at Anderson

BDI Racing teammates Michael Pope and Dakoda Armstrong along with Johanna Long and the Kyle Busch Motorsports team are all testing at Anderson Speedway (IN) today in preparation for Tuesday's Redbud 300 CRA Super Series race there. The KBM team currently has Brian Ickler behind the wheel of their Super Late Model - with Kyle Busch himself expected to arrive later in the afternoon to shake down the car.

Johnny Benson is Doing Better After Berlin Supermod Wreck

NASCAR Truck Series champion Johnny Benson, Jr. is doing better on Sunday morning after a hard wreck in Saturday night's ISMA Supermodified race at Berlin Raceway (MI). Benson hit the wall hard and his car, which he owns himself, caught on fire. He reportedly suffered from a concussion and injured his ribs in the wreck and was taken to an area hospital. ISMA officials told Speed51.com on Sunday morning that Benson called them and said that he is breathing more comfortably now while resting in the hospital on the morning after the wreck.

ASA SAT Reschedules Montgomery Race, Drops Monroe Event

The ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour has moved its event at Montgomery Motor Speedway (AL) from its originally scheduled date of Saturday, June 20th to Saturday, July 25th. The Monroe Motor Speedway event that was originally scheduled for July 25th has been cancelled. At this time, the series is not planning to replace the Monroe event .
Redbud 300 to Start Scott Performance Wire Challenge in CRA

The Scott Performance Wire Four State Challenge for the CRA Super Series is set to begin with the highly anticipated Redbud 300 at Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana this Tuesday night. The Scott Performance Wire Four State Challenge is an award program based upon four selected CRA Super Series points events in the four states the series will have points events in 2009. The other three events in the Scott Performance Wire Four State Challenge in 2009 will be the July 31st event at Toledo Speedway located in Toledo, Ohio, the August 8th event at Berlin Raceway located in Marne, Michigan and will conclude with the rescheduled Budweiser All American 150 at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville on Sunday, August 23rd.

Tim Steele To Be Inducted in Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame

It was announced on Friday that three-time ARCA Series champion Tim Steele will be inducted into the Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place at the University Comfort Inn in Mount Pleasant, MI on Sunday, November 1st.
Kyle Fowler Ready to Pro Cup Debut at Myrtle Beach

Georgia native Kyle Fowler will continue his maturation behind the wheel of a racecar by entering his first-ever USARacing Pro Cup Series event. Fowler will race on Saturday, June 20th at Myrtle Beach Speedway. Fowler has run for Ken Schrader in the NASCAR Camping World East Series this year and BDI Racing in Late Models last year.
Ickler is Quickest in Friday ARCA Practice at Michigan Speedway

Brian Ickler topped 41 ARCA RE/MAX Series drivers who participated in a 50 minute practice session at Michigan Int'l Speedway on Friday morning. The session was in preparation for this evening's Racing for Wildlife 200 (5 p.m. Est. live on SPEED). He was followed on the practice charts by Justin Lofton, Jesse Smith, Joey Coulter and Parker Kligerman.
$10k to Win Outlaw SLM Race at Angola is Moved to Friday Night

The $10,010 to win "The Godfather" Outlaw Super Late Model race at Angola Motor Speedway (IN) has been rescheduled for Friday night due to rain. This presents a conflict with the Dixie Cup Outlaw Super Late Model race at Dixie Motor Speedway (MI) on the same night, with some teams having to make tough decisions as to where they will race. It is expected though that Scott Hantz and Jack Landis will lead the Angola contingent.

Kligerman, Second in Points, Might Curtail in ARCA Season?

Parker Kligerman currently sits second in the ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings, but he might not be competiing in any events after Friday's race at Michigan Speedway. Kligerman's plan was to only run eight races this season for Cunningham Motorsports and Michigan is that eighth race. A lack of funding is to blame for the limited schedule.
"I don't know if I'm going to have that opportunity to run for the championship," Kligerman told ARCARacing.com.
Alec Carll Wins Pole for Rowdy Busch 125

Grand Rapids, MI native Alec Carll out-timed Kyle Busch by 0.003-seconds to score the fast time in qualifying for tonight's Rowdy Busch 125 at Michigan's Berlin Raceway. Chris Anthony, Terry Van Haitsma and Chris Koslek rounded out the top-five in qualifying.
Chris Eggleston, Scott Hantz, John Long, Brian Campbell and Josh Slade rounded out the top-10 in time trials.
Earlier in the day, Van Haitsma and Johnny Van Doorn were the quickest in each of the two practice sessions. Twenty cars were in the Berlin pit area today.

36 ARCA RE/MAX Teams Roll Into Michigan Speedway

The ARCA RE/MAX Series is open for business at Michigan Int'l Speedway. On track to make its 28th appearance at the renowned two-mile oval since debuting here in 1980, the tech line is open, and cars are coming through. At present, 36 ARCA RE/MAX Series machines are in the garage in preparation for Friday's Racing for Wildlife 200, live on SPEED at 5:00 PM. Two hours of practice (10-noon) Thursday followed by Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell at 3:00 PM will set the stage for raceday. All on-track activities will be broadcast live in streaming audio at ARCAracing.com via the ARCA Racing Network.

Ford Teams on ACT Tour, Affilate Tracks, Eye Extra Purse Money

With its S347JR engine approved for competition on the ACT Tour and its affiliate weekly series tracks, Ford Racing has announced a contingency program to support the Ford racers in these series. Racers in the US ACT Late Model Tour, Canadian Serie ACT Castrol Tour, as well as weekly Late Model series at ACT-approved affiliate tracks will be eligible for awards contingent on the use of the M-6007-S347JR Sealed Racing engine. The payouts for the series are $500 for a victory, $250 for second-place and $100 for third place in Tour events and $250/$125/$75 for podium finishes in approved weekly program events.

Hirschman and Baer Make Plans to Hit Wall This Weekend

Two of Pennsylvania’s most respected tour type Modified stock car drivers, Matt Hirschman and Todd Baer, say that they will be in the field this Saturday night (June 13) for ROC Qualifier “Twin 50” lap main events at Wall Stadium. Neither driver was able to be on hand when the tour type Modified visited Wall for the first time this season back on May 9.
