Adam Bates and Paul Kelley Set For Speed 51 Radio Show

PASS North Beech Ridge winner and point leader Adam Bates and ASA Southeast Series winner Paul Kelley are scheduled as the first guests on Wednesday's Speed 51 Radio show broadcast live on RaceTalkRadio.com starting at 6:30pm ET.  Speed 51 Radio is broadcast live in front of the audience at Buffalo Wild Wings in Concord, North Carolina.

Advance Auto Parts Drops DIRT Modified Title Sponsorship

World Racing Group officials announced today that Advance Auto Parts will no longer be the title sponsor of the Super DIRTcar Series, ending a 10-year run. The move does not affect the existing 2009 schedule for the mighty Big Block Modifieds nor will it impact the 2009 point fund.  The World Racing Group will begin actively seeking a new title sponsor for the Super DIRTcar Series.

Eggleston to Sub for Berryhill in #17 ASA Late Model at The Rock
ASA LM - 6/29/09
ASA North series points leader Chris Eggleston to pilot the number 17 Vision Racing Enlyten ASA car for the upcoming Rockingham race this July 4th weekend as a sub for injured driver Tanner Berryhill, who is slated to return to action in the ASA LM Challenge Series race at Nashville Superspeedway on August 15th.

New Smyrna and Orlando Tracks Introduce New Rules for Minors

Due to new Insurance regulations, effective june 30th at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) and Orlando Speedworld (FL) who enter the Pit Area must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with a court order.  A Birth Certificate for the minor and Proof of Guardianship with
Valid I.D. are required as well as a minor release form signed by both parents.  Minor Release Forms may be filled out during the week at the New Smyrna Speedway Track Office, or they can be faxed to you. Forms not completed at the Track Office must be Notarized. 

Iowa ARCA Test Set For Tuesday, Johanna Long on The Roster

There will be an open test for the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Iowa Speedway on Tuesday, June 30th.  Florida Super Late Model standout Johanna Long is on the roster for the test with the #25 Venturini Motorsports entry.  Also on the test roster are Parker Kligerman, Justin Lofton, Craig Goess, Steve Arpin, Tim George, Jr., Austin Dillon, Chris Buescher, his cousin James Buescher, Patrick Sheltra, Joey Coulter, Brian Ickler and Chad Hackenbracht.

ARCA's Patrick Sheltra to Attempt Nationwide Race at Daytona

Officials from MacDonald Motorsports and Sheltra Motorsports jointly announced today that ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) veteran Patrick Sheltra has been tapped to drive the No. 81 D.H. Griffin-Quality Turf-Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger in Friday’s Subway Jalapeno 250 at Daytona International Speedway.  For Sheltra, he will make his third career NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start

Hoar's Crew is Safe After Post White Mountain Moose Collision

Brian Hoar had a tough luck night in Saturday's ACT Late Model event at White Mountain Motorsports Park and his crew members had an even scarier incident on their ride home.  A Dodge Charger with several members of Hoar's #37 RPM Motorsports team hit a moose in the road and the impact peeled back the roof of the car.  The Charger kept them safe though and except for a few minor cuts everyone was okay.  The car was destroyed and there is no word on the fate of the Moose.

Pardo Remembered as NASCAR Mexico Series Returns to Action

It was an emotional race int he NASCAR Mexico Series at New Queretaro Autodromo as the series raced for the first time since the racing death of former champion Carlos Pardo.  Before this weekend's race, Pardo's Number 21 was retired and a tribute ceremony was held.  After the race, winner Hugo Oliveras, stood in victory lane and gestured towards the sky to show tribute to his fallen fellow racer.  Pardo's brother Ruben finished second in Sunday’s race.

NSSN To Sponsor ARCA Most Popular Driver Award

Officials from the Automobile Racing Club of America announced today that National Speed Sport News will sponsor the Most Popular Driver Award in the ARCA RE/MAX Series in 2009. Voting for the fan-based award takes place exclusively on ARCA's social networking website, http://www.arcanation.com.

Nick Sweet to Enter Saturday Night ACT Show at White Mountain

Nick Sweet, who finished a strong second in Thursday's Governor's Cup non-points ACT Late Model event at Thunder Road Speedbowl (VT) will enter Saturday night's ACT Late Model race at White Mountain Motorsports Park (NH).  Sweet is racing weekly at Thunder Road this year, but did run the ACT schedule as a regular in 2008.

Doug Coby Fast Timer for New Hampshire Mod Tour Race

Qualifying for Saturday's New Hampshire 100 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway was paced by Doug Coby, who toured NHMS at a pace of more than 126mph.  Coby out-qualified former NHMS winners Todd Szegedy, Ted Christopher and Donny Lia, who timed in second through fourth, respectively.  Rowan Pennink rounded out the top-five.

Ryan Truex Sets Quick Time for NCWSE Race at New Hampshire

NASCAR Camping World Series East rookie Ryan Truex continued his hot streak Thursday afternoon when he won the Coors Light Pole Award in advance of Friday’s Heluva Good! TV Package Coming for USARacing Pro Cup

As heard on Speed 51 Radio last night, the USARacing Pro Cup Series is set to announce plans for televising several remaining races in 2009 nationwide on Fox Sports Net, with episodes airing on Sunday mornings.  Full details to be announced by Pro Cup officials soon.

Charlotte City Council OK's Metrolina Speedway Revitalization

From The Charlotte Observer...Charlotte (NC) City Council approved a rezoning Monday that will allow a developer to build a $50 million race track and amateur sports complex on the Metrolina Tradeshow Expo grounds in north Charlotte.  Plans for the project, called the Metrolina Speed and Sports Center, include a 40,000-square-foot facility with rooftop skateboard park, a 200-room hotel and a banked race track. The popular flea market would stay on the site.

Developer Simon Weber expects the project to create 150 jobs, and he said Monday he plans to open the complex in May 2010, when the uptown NASCAR Hall of Fame opens.

City Council voted unanimously to rezone the 135.3-acre Metrolina property.

Jeff Bolen Making PASS South Debut at Greenville and Hickory

Legends Car Semi-Pro racer Jeff Bolen will be making his Super Late Model debut with the PASS South Series in July.  Wednesday night on LegendsNation.com Radio, Bolen, who has won two of the first three Summer Shootout Semi-Pro features of the 2009 season at Lowe’s Motor Speedway (NC), announced that he will make his SLM debut in the “Firecracker 125” at Greenville-Pickens Speedway (SC) on Friday, July 3rd.  He is also planning on running the “Independence 150” PASS South race two days later on Sunday, July 5th at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC).  Bolen has seven wins in his first 10 starts of 2009 in the Legends Car ranks, and will make his SLM debut with backing from Simmons and White, an engineering firm based in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Thursday night's Governor's Cup at Thunder Road Speedbowl could be the largest event ever held in the 50-year history of the Vermont track.  Even Tony Stewart is going to be there and the race is almost a sellout.  You might expect that the Town of Barre, Vermont would be overwhelmed with traffic, but Justin St. Louis of the Vermont Motorsports Magazine did his homework and found that might not be the case.  St. Louis got some traffic tips, shortcuts and insights straight from Barre's mayor and you can check those out by clicking here.

Cup Paint Job Will Pay Tribute To Dave Dion's Berlin City Fords

New England race fans fondly remember the orange #29 Berlin City Fords that Dave Dion raced for years throughout the region in various forms of ACT, PASS and what is now the NASCAR Camping World East Series racing.  That paint scheme will now be paid tribute to in Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at New Hampshire.  A.J. Allmendinger 's #44 Dodge will have a Berlin City paint scheme with cues to Dion's cars. 

The common link is that Allmedinger's car owner, George Gillet, owns the holding company for the Berlin City dealerships in New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont.  There's no word on whether or not Dion will be in attendence to see the car in action.

Saskatchewan NASCAR Race a Sellout, More Seats On The Way

With 36 days still to go before the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series invades Auto Clearing Motor Speedway (ACMS) in Saskatoon, Sask., for the first time, track officials have announced that existing seating for the Velocity Prairie Thunder presented by Bayer CropScience is sold out.  As a result, 1,500 bleacher seats will be added for the 250-lap race on Wednesday, July 29. Those tickets are on sale now

Mother Nature has not been gentle on the start of the 2009 racing season.  Last weekend’s Lucas Oil 100 at Raceway Park was cancelled due to impending weather.  A new date for the event will be announced shortly.  This weekend the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour is heading to Speedway 660 for Saturday’s Parts for Trucks 100 and everyone has their fingers crossed that Mother Nature will show her kinder side.   Speedway 660 is located in Geary, NB, just outside of Saint John and Fredericton.

Matt Hirschman will not drive the #51 BDI Racing Super Late Model in the July 5th PASS South race at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) as previously announced on Speed 51 Radio.  Hirschman will still drive for the team this year in one or two events, but those races have not yet been determined and will be planned around Hirschman's schedule of asphalt Modified events.

Vermont's Eric Chase competes part-time on the ACT Late Model tour and has also entered a number of PASS North and South Super Late Model events.  This week, he'll try out the NASCAR Camping World East Series as the driver of the Barney McRae-owned #5 entry in Friday's event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
