Big SLM / Pro Stock Triple Crown Planned for Canadian Maritimes

The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour has added a Triple Crown mini-series to the 2009 racing schedule. The Triple Crown Series is an amalgamation of the three most prestigious racing events in the Maritimes; Riverside International Speedway’s IWK 250, Scotia Speedworld’s Atlantic CAT 250 and Speedway 660’s Peterbilt 250. These three races will comprise the Triple Crown of Maritime Pro Stock Racing. In addition to receiving show points toward the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour Championship, drivers will also be racing for more than $250,000.00 in total purse money for the three events. Should one driver pull off the hat trick and win all three Triple Crown races they will receive an additional $50,000.00 bonus.

Alan Tardiff Adjusts Schedule to Enter Iowa CW East Event

Alan Tardiff was only planning to run a limited schedule of NASCAR Camping World East Series races this season with his Archie St. Hilaire-owned #38 team. But after Tardiff won the pole and finished third in this past weekend's race at Tri-County, the team has changed some of their plans. Tardiff currently sits third in the CW East points after two events and has now decided to head to the next race on the schedule at Iowa Speedway. Speed51.com caught up with the team on Wednesday at his shop in Lyman, Maine where a little bit of extra sponsorship will help them to enter the Iowa event.
ASA Midwest Race for the Gold Rescheduled to May 30th

American Speed Association Midwest Tour and Dells Raceway Park officials have announced that the rain date for the Race for the Gold Bronze Race will be Saturday, May 30th. The Saturday night event will feature the ASAMT Super Late Models, Mid-American Series, and DRP Pure Stocks.
When the April 25th date was rained out officials carefully reviewed the schedules of other series and big racing events in the area. The tentative re-schedule date announced was June 6th, but after further discussion it was decided that May 30th would be the best date for the Race for the Gold Bronze Race so as not to conflict with another Super Late Model event.
Matt Hirschman Gets Surprise Ride in PASS South?

On Tuesday night's Speed 51 Radio show, BDI Racing team owner Bob Dillner offered a ride in the July 5th PASS South Super Late Model race at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) to Modified standout Matt Hirschman, who quickly accepted the ride. Although the details for the deal, which quickly came together, have yet to be announced, it will be the Super Late Model debut for Hirschman.
Noted Motorsports Journalist David Poole Passes Away

Noted motorspoirts journalist David Poole passed away today at the age of 50 after a heart attack. Poole was a friend of short track racing, writing often about short track racing in the Carolinas in his work for the Charlotte Observer and their website, ThatsRacin.com.
"David was one of the best in the business as far as his writing and reporting," said SPEED TV commentator and Speed51.com Executive Editor Bob Dillner. "More importantly though, he cared about the sport more than most anyone in the business. He is someone who we are going to miss. He had a unique personality, was great at making funny comments and had a general passion for the sport."
