Fultz, Lia & Roberts First to Sign up For Speed 51 Radio Tuesday
51 Radio - 3/30/09
Veteran Super Late Model driver Jeff Fultz, former Mod Tour champ and NASCAR Truck Series winner Donny Lia, and long-time Super Late Model crew chief Gene Roberts have agreed to appear on Speed 51 Radio on Tuesday night at 7pm on RaceTalkRadio.com. The show is broadcast live from Buffalo Wild Wings in Concord, NC (exit 54 of I-85).

Ty Dillon Looking to Race UARA at Tri-County
UARA - 3/29/09
RCR's Mike Dillon told Speed51.com at Martinsville Speedway that his youngest son, Ty, plans to race the UARA Late Model Stock Car event at Tri-County Speedway on Friday, April 10th. The 16-year-old will use the race to learn the track and help prepare him for the NASCAR Camping World East race at the Hudson, NC track on April 25th.

Bumbera to Race Camping World West Event at Phoenix
CW West - 3/30/09
Kristin Bumbera will be running for Bobby Hamilton Racing in the Camping World East Series this season, but during the Cup weekend at Martinsville Speedway she told Speed51.com that she will compete in the upcoming West Series race at Phoenix Int'l Raceway. Bumbera will wheel her family-owned car in the event on Thursday, April 16th.

Aric Almirola Eyeing PASS Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Aric Almirola told Speed51.com at Martinsville Speedway that he may compete in the Easter Bunny 150 on Saturday, April 11th at Hickory Motor Speedway with the PASS South Tour. Almirola has a friend in New England who is putting the finishing touches on a car that he would run. Almirola, who competes for Earnhardt-Gannassi Racing on the Cup circuit, is looking forward to the possible opportunity on an off-weekend from his day-job.

Cox Back in the #23 Chevrolet for Salem ARCA Race
ARCA - 3/30/09
Ron Cox will slide through the window of the #23 Hixson Motorsports Chevrolet for the first time in three and half years for the April 5th running of the ARCA RE/MAX Series Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 at Salem Speedway. While Cox has continued to race on a part time basis for the last five years, he has not raced the #23 since August of 2005.

Ickler to Run 10 or More Truck Series Races for #51 Team
Trucks - 3/30/09
CW East driver Brian Ickler will race in at least 10 NASCAR Truck Series events for the #51 Billy Ballew Motorsports team this year.  He'll serve as a fill-in for regular driver Kyle Busch.

West Series Official Beeler Passes Away

Doug Beeler, an official in the NASCAR Camping World Series West, died Thursday at the age of 71.  Beeler of Marysville, Calif., served as an inspector and truck driver for the series.
Beeler, a retired utility company supervisor, initially began working as an inspector and driving the NASCAR hauler for the series in 2002. Prior to that he drove the team hauler for Spears Motorsports.  Services are pending final arrangements.

Brent Sherman Returns to ARCA With Salem Race In His Sights

Brent Sherman will make a return to the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Salem Speedway in the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 presented by Federated Car Care on April 5. Sherman, a rising star in the ARCA RE/MAX Series in the early 2000's, has not started an ARCA RE/MAX Series race since winning at Michigan International Speedway in 2006. He has entered the Salem event in a Doug Stringer-owned No. 90 Tracker's Lodge Chevrolet.

ASA LM & SPLMS Move South Georgia to Sunday, March 29th

The ASA Late Model Series,  along with the Southern Pro Late Models announced that their races have been moved to Sunday March 29th for the South Georgia Motorsports Park Short Track Nationals 100.  With impending weather in the area for Saturday, both series wanted  Racers and Fans to know in advance that  the races will now be on Sunday, March 29th. Gates will open at 12:00pm and racing action starts at 2:00pm.

Rain Claims Concord Speedway's Pro Late Model Opener & More

Due to a forecast certain for rain Friday and Saturday evenings, with the predictions of possible severe weather Saturday evening, all events for this weekend have been postponed, including Saturday's NASCAR Pro Late Model season opener on the half-mile track and Friday and Sunday's Legends and Bandolero events on the quarter-mile track.  Rain dates will be posted as soon as determined.

NASCAR Whelen Southern Mod Tour Doubleheader Washed Out

Rain has wiped out both ends of the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour doubleheader this weekend.  Scheduled events at North Carolina's Ace Speedway on Friday night and Caraway Speedway Saturday night have been postponed due to the forecast of heavy rain and potentially strong storms.  No makeup dates for either event have been announced.

Carey & Coffey to Preview Mod Tour Season w/ Plenty of Guests

ESPN Radio's Carey and Coffey show will preview the 2009 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season on Sunday's show from 10am-Noon ET.  Appearing on the show to do that will be Speed51.com Editor Mike Twist along with Tour drivers Donny Lia, Glen Reen and Ryan Preece.  Late Model driver Tim Jordan will also be on the show.  Click here to listen.

Sheltra is Cleared to Return to Compeition in ARCA

ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Patrick Sheltra has been medically cleared to return to racing in time for the ARCA RE/MAX Series to pick up with their second race of the season, the at Salem Speedway next Sunday, April 5.  Sheltra, 22 was involved in a nasty accident in the closing laps of the ARCA  opener at Daytona International Speedway last month where Sheltra suffered a compression fracture of his fourth vertebrae and a dislocated kneecap.

McCall to Drive for Stremme in PASS South Easter Bunny 150

Speed51.com has learned that Matt McCall will race in the PASS South "Easter Bunny 150" Super Late Model race on April 11th at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) in David Stremme's #35 ride.  McCall, fresh off his UARA-Stars Late Model Stock Car victory at Bristol Motor Speedway (TN) on March 21st, told Speed51.com Thursday morning that it is currently a one-race deal and the team is exploring sponsorship opportunities for the event.

Crum Joins Venturini ARCA Team, Might Skip Next UARA Race

Defending UARA Stars Champion Jake Crum told UARA Soiree on RaceTalkRadio.com that after his crash at Bristol, he doubts the team will be ready to compete in the series' second race of the season at Tri-County Speedway (NC).   Crum spent Tuesday at Rockingham Speedway (NC) testing an ARCA car in preperation for a new partnership with Venturini Motorsports.  Crum will be joining the likes of Joey Logano, Sean Cassie and Alex Yontz in the Venturini shop, poised for an ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule later this year pending sponsorship.

ASA LM and SPLMS To Co-Sanction South Georgia Event

This Saturday's race at South Georgia Speedway will be the first of five co-sanctioned events between the ASA Late Model Series South and the Southern Pro Late Model Series. Other co-sanctioned events this season include visits to New Senoia Raceway (GA), Concord Motorsports Park (NC) and Rockingham Speedway (NC).

Blizzard Races, Snowball Derby to Broadcast on RTR/51 Radio

It was announced during Tuesday's Speed 51 Radio show that all of the 2009 Blizzard Series Super Late Model races, including the Snowball Derby, will be broadcast live on Race Talk Radio with support from the Speed 51 Radio team.

Jeffrey Earnhardt Eyes Nationwide Debut at Dover

Jeffrey Earnhardt, who who spent most of the past two seasons in the NASCAR Camping World East Series, will attempt to make his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut for the #31 Rick Ware Racing team on May 30th at Dover International Speedway (DE).

Houston Motorsports Park Enters NASCAR WAAS Fold

NASCAR announced today that Houston Motorsports Park will be a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track in 2009.  The track is owned by Graham Baker and opened as a dirt track in 1977. It was paved in 2000. Unique to the track are two lanes of concrete racing surface in the turns, much like Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.  HMP, a D-shaped .375-mile banked asphalt and concrete oval, opens its season on Saturday, March 28th.

13-year-old Chase Elliott, son of 1988 NASCAR Cup champion Bill Elliott, will enter Saturday's ASA Late Model South event at South Georgia Speedway.  It will be Elliott's debut in the series.

Fontaine and Oliver to Run Trucks at Martinsville This Week

Among the entries for this weekend's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway are former ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour regular Chris Fontaine and ASA Late Model driver Dillon Oliver.  Both competitors are looking towards making their Truck Series debuts in the event.

Johanna Long to Enter ASA SAT Doubleheader This Weekend

Five Flags Speedway (FL) Pro Late Model champion Johanna Long will enter the ASA RC Cola/Moon Pie Southeast Asphalt Tour events at Five Flags and Mobile International Speedway (AL) this Friday and Saturday.  The races will be her first ones in the series.
