10 to Attend: Short Track Racing Events Remaining in 2017

With the year 2017 entering its final stages, so too is the short track racing schedule for the season. But in the big picture, there is still plenty of racing to go with several large racing events capping off the season.

 

Without further ado, we present the remaining top ten short track racing events for race fans to attend during the 2017 racing season.

 

#1 – 50th Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway (FL) – You knew this one was coming.  The grandest asphalt Super Late Model event of them all hits the half-century mark as the best in the nation go at it for 300 laps on Sunday, December 3 to conclude 2017. It also caps off a great week of racing at Five Flags which begins on Wednesday, November 29 featuring multiple divisions of racing.

 

#2 – Gateway Dirt Nationals at the Dome at America’s Center (MO) – The newest event on our list is back by popular demand in 2017 for round two as the top Dirt Super Late Model and Open-Wheel Modified drivers flock to the City of St. Louis and the Dome at America’s Center for three days of Dirt in December (14 – 16). The racing last year on the quarter-mile indoor oval proved some of the best of 2016 and is shaping up to be once again.

 

#3 – Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown 300 at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) – Pro All Stars Series racing concludes in grand-style for 2017 on November 18 at Hickory for the expanded 300-lap, $15,000-to-win MegaMeltdown. Not only will a champion be crowned for the PASS South tour, but so too for the PASS National title as the South drivers will take on the Northern invaders one last time, as well as a selection of drivers from further west.

 

300x250 20% OFF Store#4 – Turkey Night Grand Prix at Ventura Raceway (CA) – The top Midget drivers in the country will dine on dirt this Thanksgiving Night, November 23 on the West Coast for the 77th edition of this classic race. The night will also see the conclusion of the 2017 USAC National Midget championship chase.

 

#5 – Turkey Derby at Wall Stadium Speedway (NJ) – Northeast Asphalt Modified stars gather on the Jersey Shore for the 44th time for one of the year’s biggest prizes. This three-day event on the Wall high-banks features three days of great racing and entertainment from Friday to Sunday following Thanksgiving. Saturday, November 25 is the big day with a 150-lap Tour-type Modified race and 100-lap Wall/SK Modified event highlighting the festivities.

 

#6 – Thanksgiving Classic at Southern National Motorsports Park (NC) – Southern race fans will also have their fill on Thanksgiving weekend with SNMP hosting three days of racing in Lucama. It all comes to a head on Sunday, November 26 with the final Late Model races of 2017 in the Carolinas with a 125-lap Super Late Model contest and 200-lap grand finale for Late Model Stock Cars.

 

#7 – Florida Governor’s Cup at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) – Racing along Florida’s Atlantic coast closes out with one of the state’s oldest traditions. Things get started this Saturday, November 11 with qualifying and a 100-lap Pro Late Model event. Then Sunday, November 12 is the big day with the 55th Governor’s Cup 200 for Super Late Models.

 

#8 – Myrtle Beach 250 & 400 at Myrtle Beach Speedway (SC) – South Carolina race fans are getting set for a busy two weeks at the Beach with back to back racing weekends. Myrtle Beach 250 weekend starts things off this weekend with Southeast Limited Late Models highlighting the action this Saturday. Then things notch up the following week, with the 25th Myrtle Beach 400 weekend being highlighted by a 125-lap Tour-type Modified event and 225-lap Late Model Stock car race on Saturday, November 18.

 

#9 – West Coast Short Track Championship at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (NV) – The Nevada desert gets even hotter on Saturday, November 18 with the SRL Southwest Tour Series 125-lap season finale deciding the 2017 champion. The Lucas Oil Modified Series is also on hand for a two segment 100-lap exhibition to close out the year.

 

#10 – The Gobbler at Accord Speedway (NY) – For the fifth time, Northeast Dirt Modified racing will close out racing for the year in the Catskills hosted by Accord and the Brett Deyo Motorsports crew. A 50-lap, $5,500 to win Modified contest for both Big & Small Block Modifieds highlights the day on Saturday, November 25 along with a 25-lap Sportsman Modified race and much more.
